My Personality
By Cassie PD
Careers are important. It is the way to make money and help society. Choosing the right career is important, because if someone did something they didn’t like then they won’t do well and may not make enough money. If people don’t enjoy their jobs they may become depressed and stressed. People choose careers by looking at their strengths and using them for something they enjoy doing. They must understand themselves so they know what they are capable of doing. Also, by understanding themselves they will know if their chosen career is right for them.
On Similarminds.com I took a personality test which gave me the following result: ENFJ- “Outgoing, social, attention seeking, emotional, loving, organized, comfortable around others, involved, open, hyperactive, complimentary, punctual, considerate, altruistic, easily hurt, religious, neat, content, positive, affectionate, image conscious, good at getting people to have fun, easily excited, perfectionist, assertive, ambitious, leader, hard working, seductive, touchy, group oriented, anti-tattoos.” (Jung Type Descriptions)
I display most of these traits but not all (the traits crossed out). The rest of the traits I do believe I have. Some traits are shown stronger than others. The others I may have but are not my strongest traits, such as, being outgoing, open, easily excited, good at getting others to have fun, these are traits I'm not sure of. I express my traits in everyday situations, through writing, and in my actions.
I’m not sure what I want for a profession. Fortunately, The results pointed out many different careers and they all seem very interesting. I enjoy learning many new things, and I never thought about what specific category or field I would want to take on. There are some careers I don’t see myself attempting, but I’m not sure.
Another test I took was the Keirsey Sorter 11, and it describe me as an idealist. An idealist is, “somebody who rejects practical considerations in favor of the pursuit of perfection, and somebody who aspires to or lives in accordance with high standards or principles.” The idealists titled as teachers are consistent in achieving their goals and have abstract speech and thoughts. They are somebody who is, “sociable, self-confident, and uninhibited when with other people, also somebody who, goes beyond self-interest and is involved with other people and things.”(Encarta Dictionary) Idealists usually have to educe education of the young. They are educative mentors and especially capable of educing or bringing out the highest potential each learner possess. The idealist teacher is a type of leader. I don’t think of myself as much of a leader, but I do try to do my best, think positive, and set an example. My mom told me I am a, “Silent Leader.” I don’t take over, I just make sure things are done and done right.
Teachers have high expectations of those around them and express enthusiastic encouragement and motivate others so that they can live up to their full expectations. They take for granted their expectations will be met, there commands obeyed, not doubting people will want to do what they suggest. They have extraordinary charisma. I do believe people should act and use their highest potential and ability in all areas. Although I usually do my best, I may not always do things right the first time. I make mistakes and learn from them. I have high expectations of myself, because I feel I can do anything I set my mind to. I know as a student in the future and in my future career having my habits and expectations should help me.
Teachers make up 2-3% of the population. They like things settled and arranged to plan both work and social arrangements ahead of time, and they are reliable, honoring arranged commitments. Teachers are good at juggling data and can handle complex situations with pre-planning. A teacher is good at easily dreaming up activities for a group. Teachers can be inspired by their followers which can result to genius.
Teachers are somewhat a provider and more of a master of ceremonies than a leader of groups. Providers are good hosts and hostesses who make sure everything is taken care of. Teachers are usually popular wherever they go and can handle people with charm and concern. They value harmonious human relations. Teachers are educational leaders and not very interested in attending to their social needs.
I do try to be as organized as possible and being organized is very helpful. Being organized is especially helpful when dealing with a lot of information or a lot of things that must be done. I think when I want to be I can be creative and imaginative, which teachers display in many ways. I try to make sure things that need to be done are done and taken care of. I also help other people to get things done, or I try to give them a better understanding of what they are doing. In some ways I may display many of the traits shown in teachers.
On the Pathway to the World of Career’s survey, the results suggested I look into the fields of agriculture, public and human services, and arts/media/entertainment. To me I think arts/media and entertainment are more of a hobby rather than a career. I enjoy science, so agriculture may come to mind. I’m not so sure what I think of about public and human services, although I do enjoy helping people. This survey may have pointed out interests or strengths, but all but 2 categories ranked the same. So I’m really not sure what careers are just right for me.
Arts/media/and entertainment would be fun. Something like culinary arts, fashion designer, fashion merchandiser, stylist, hair stylist, maybe even model or dancer (most likely not, but just for a fun hobby). If I were to be really good with that hobby then one day it may be a side job along with good money and fun.
I really enjoy science so agriculture (being in the science category) would be fun to get into. There are so many different braches off in the category of science. I hope to find a science field dealing with weather, nature, and scientific discovery. Another filed that might be interesting is cosmetology. Science can be a career and a hobby, experimenting with on free time. It’s so interesting and if I am really good at what I do, it could make a good amount of money. Science isn’t an easy career. It would be very complex and I would have to be sure to be accurate and pay attention to detail. It seems like a truly fascinating job.
I’m not sure what careers are open in public and human services, but I do enjoy helping others. I have thought of teaching and psychology/counseling before. What ever may come my way, I am willing to do everything I can to be successful and enjoy the job. What I want out of myself is a job well done and for it to be something I enjoy. I hope to go to college for as long as it takes to take many different courses, so I may develope various skills and interests. I also hope to learn French, Spanish, German, Italian, and Japanese, to help out my job. The harder I work, the more successful I will be. I have high expectations and plan to succeed.
In order for people to know their strengths and find the right job for them they must understand who they are. By understanding and really looking at who they are and what they can do, they will most likely be successful. Being good at their job will help them earn money and make a good living. The job people have also help other people in their communities and possibly country. Enjoying what they are good at improves their attitude and helps them not to dread their long or tiring work hours. Our education and abilities mean a lot to our future and our society.
