Personality Essay
Our personalities make us unique. You may think people have the same personality, but they are only similar. Personalities make us outgoing, neat, lazy, and so forth. Without our personalities, our world would be plain, ordinary, and boring. Personality quizzes can sometimes help us to know what our personalities are. Others can mislead you into thinking you are something you’re not. The tests I took in my opinion were accurate and very close to my personality. In order to find the career that is right for me, I must first understand my personality. The first personality test I took was a career test known as “Pathways to the World of Careers”. This test was used to determine what kinds of careers would best suit our interests. The category I scored highest in was Arts, Media, and Entertainment. In other words, the fields I will most likely work in include acting, interior design, and other careers in this area. I am pleased with my results, because I already have a passion for acting and being creative. Acting is my first choice in this category. I chose this career because, I think it fits my personality the best. According to the career test “I like to find creative ways to express my ideas and feelings,” which is true because I enjoy finding different ways to express how I feel or in acting how other characters in plays feel. I have been acting for four years. I can fool people into thinking I am sad, angry, or very hyper and this has developed into my personality. My secondary choice is being an Interior Designer. Interior Designers are people who design houses and offices. This kind of person has to be able to be very creative no matter how small the budget is. I also wanted to be an interior designer because of a game I have called “The Sims”. In the game you had to move people into their own homes and make them look nice so they won’t hate living there. Another test I took was a similarminds.com personality test. Judging from my results, this test came very close to my personality. How it relates to my personality include the following: Does not like being alone, thinks life has a purpose/meaning, organized,..., open, easy to read,...,follows the rules, affectionate, planner, regular, orderly, clean, finisher, religious, consults others before acting, content, positive, loves massages, complementary, dutiful, loving, altruistic (similarminds.com). I think that most of these fit me. The ones that fit me the best include dutiful, organized, positive, loving, and follow the rules. The one that did not relate to me was about being religious. The favored careers they said would fit me best included wedding planner, social worker, kindergarten teacher, nurse, and executive assistant. Some disfavored careers they had for me included artist, video editor, and international spy. Most of the careers, favored of disfavored, did not seem interesting to me at all. Personally, I don’t think the test results for my career options were accurate. Otherwise, the results fit me well. The final test I took was the Keirsey Temperament test; I scored highest as a provider guardian. Most provider guardians are kind to everyone and are very social. In fact, providers are the most social of all the types of guardians. They are also more than 10 percent of the population, which is a good thing because of the nice and outgoing personalities they have. Providers have no problem approaching others, are sensitive to what others think of them, and are always aware of what is going on. Also, some providers either like something and will always care for it or dislike it and could care less for it. When it comes to careers, sales and service occupations fit them best because of their pleasant and outgoing personalities. Providers have excellent people skills helping them excel in jobs such as teaching and social workers. Providers are never a bother at work, but they are instead loyal, responsible, and are very dedicated. These relate to me because I am outgoing and very responsible when it comes to my work. This personality test I think fit my personality the closest. This is because I do, as most people my age, care about what others think of me. I also believe that I am very social and outgoing, kind to others, and very responsible when I am working on a job. I think all of these tests were quite accurate. Although none of the results fit me perfectly, they were very close. What amazed me about the results of my career tests was that how different all of the career results were. One test said I should be in the field of entertainment and that I shouldn’t be anything in the category of Public and Human services. The others stated the exact opposite. When listening to others read aloud what their personality results were I realized how well they fit them and how different everyone in the class is. Some career path results, however, seemed to suit them while others did not. We all have unique personalities. |
