Personality Essay

By: Kelsie

A person’s personality is everything about them- what they do, what they say, and what they feel. It is what their friends and family sees them as. Their personality is what will land them careers and make them friends. If a person has a positive personality, than they will have a more positive outlook on life and the world; they will get a better career, more friends, and stronger relationships. People enjoy being around someone who has a positive personality. If someone has a negative Personality, than they probably will not be well by peers, bosses, or fellow coworkers. People do not enjoy being around someone with a negative vibe. Learning about your personality is a good thing because you can then analyze what careers you would be interested in judging by your personality type.

For a class assignment, my peers and I were asked to take a Few different personality tests and quizzes that analyzed some of our unique personality traits. Also, it listed several careers we would be good at according to our personality types. The first test we took was online at www.similarminds.com. It was called a “jung” test because it gave personality types in letters. My personal personality type is called “ENFP”. This personality type matches me perfectly because someone who is an “ENFP” is a fun, wild, and outgoing person.

A few of my favorite personality traits as an ENFP are: spontaneous, fun seeker, likes to stand out, attracted to strange things, dangerous, comfortable in unfamiliar situations, loves crowds, good at getting people to have fun, impulsive, and of course, my dad’s favorite, likely to have or want a tattoo. Those traits are very much like me: I love having fun; I love not knowing what is in store; and I love being the center of attention. The “Similar Minds” quiz also gave me a list of careers that match my personality type, many of which are centered on the movie/acting industry. I have always wanted to work in that field, so that result was very accurate. I felt that my “Similar Minds” test was accurate in every aspect.

On my “Pathways to the World of careers” packet I appropriately scored highest with arts, media, and entertainment, which complimented my “Similar Minds” career results. The career path that came in second was home economics & technology. I am interested in technology, but the rest of that result was kind of irrelevant to my interests.

I then produced a tie, in which 3 of the career choices got 2 points. Those career paths are; health careers, industrial & technology, and public and human services. Out of those choices health careers sounded the most intriguing to me. When I was little I always said that if I never made it as an actor, I would become a doctor. Although that interest has dissipated, I have developed a new liking for forensics, which kind of fits in with health careers. It is not so much the medicinal studies that interest me, but more or less health science. I would choose public & human services as in the field of criminal justice work. I am planning on taking a criminal justice class in high school. Then the last career path I would choose out of that tie would then be industrial & technology.

On the third quiz, “Keirsey”, I scored the personality type of an “Idealist”. Some personality traits for idealists are; having a drive to be their best possible self, gifted in helping others find their way in life, and are sure that friendly cooperation is the best ay for people to achieve goals.

Those traits are somewhat like me, but it is not as accurate as the other 2. It also could have been more specific in its result. It also did not mention any flaws in our personalities, which bothered me because every personality has flaws, or else they would not be personalities. The best trait that was most like me that the Keirsey mentioned was, “The real, practical world is only a starting place for idealists”. That phrase really sums up all of my results from every quiz.

The “Pathways to the World of careers” told me I belong in the arts, media, and entertainment industry, which is a reach for the stars in many eyes. My “Similar Minds” quiz gave me many personality traits I see myself portray everyday, and that I would be best as an actor or work in the movie/acting industry. “Keirsey”, complimented those two as well. One student in my class, while I was taking a quiz, made a comment of “Wow! I am surprised the computer did not blow up while calculating your Results.” That was just a very humorous way of saying that I have multiple personalities that I can show at any time, and I am very proud of every personality trait I possess.
